HOW THE CELESTIAL LAW WAS COMPROMISED

8.5 X 11" 38 pages

When we wrote our book, Zion—Applications of the Celestial Law, many questions arose in our minds as to how the Celestial Law could be so clear as it originally appeared in the Book of Commandments and earlier revelations, yet so inconsistent in the 1835 edition of the Doctrine and Covenants.

It will be obvious to the reader that those who were responsible for the changes in the 1835 edition of the Doctrine and Covenants failed to follow through and make these changes consistent with the other revelations that relate to the Celestial Law.

We should understand that the Celestial Law is not a nebulous or indefinite set of principles. These principles are specifically presented by Christ in the early revelations. As we have researched the scriptures and the history and records of the early Restoration Movement, we have found that some of the closest friends of Joseph Smith, Jr., not only became disloyal to him, but rejected many of the commandments of God as they were revealed through the Prophet.

We are approaching this subject in its historical context so that the reader may discover the chronological developments of the “REBELLION” at that time. Some of the evidence is presented as the events transpire. This evidence becomes more pronounced and validated between the years 1835 to 1838.
